Commissioner Mary Thornton

Mary Thornton was appointed to the Board of Parole Hearings on August 12, 2019. She has served as deputy commissioner and administrative law judge with the Board of Parole Hearings since 2018. Thornton served as a senior deputy district attorney at the Madera County District Attorney’s Office from 2016 to 2017, where she was a deputy district attorney from 2009 to 2013. She served as a deputy district attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office from 2013 to 2015. Thornton earned a Juris Doctor degree from the San Joaquin College of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation.
