Commissioner: Excel Sharrieff
Excel Sharrieff was appointed to the Board of Parole Hearings by Governor Brown on December 5, 2018, where he has been deputy commissioner since 2017. Sharrieff was lead hearing officer at Amtrak from 2016 to 2017 and a hearing officer for the City of Los Angeles from 2015 to 2016. He served as a judge pro tempore at the Los Angeles County Superior Court from 2006 to 2017 and was an attorney in private practice from 1999 to 2016. Sharrieff earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Pepperdine University School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation.
Commissioner Sharrieff was reappointed by Governor Newsom on August 6th, 2021.
