Commissioner Jack Weiss

Jack Weiss was appointed to the Board of Parole Hearings by Governor Newsom on August 19, 2022. Weiss worked in the risk advisory industry from 2010 to 2022. He served on the Los Angeles City Council from 2001 to 2009 and chaired the Public Safety Committee. Weiss served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California from 1994 to 2000 and was assigned to the Major Frauds and Public Corruption and Government Fraud Sections of the Criminal Division. He was an associate at Irell and Manella from 1993 to 1994. Weiss was a law clerk at the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, from 1992 to 1993. Weiss received his law degree from the UCLA School of Law and served as editor-in-chief of the UCLA Law Review; his undergraduate degree is from Princeton University.
