ADA Compliance Unit
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Unit ensures that the Board of Parole Hearings provides persons and parolees with reasonable accommodations for their disabilities for parole proceedings. The unit ensures parole hearings are at locations accessible to those with disabilities and that there is effective communications during the proceedings for inmates/parolees. The ADA Compliance Unit provides continual training for Corrections and the Board personnel involved in parole proceedings. The Board formed the unit in December 1999 to ensure compliance with a federal court injunction in the Armstrong v. Davis lawsuit. The court and plaintiff’s attorneys monitor compliance with the injunction.
