Sixteen CDCR employees recently participated in the 14th Annual Bike the Bridges event to support Special Olympics Northern California.

Two of those staff members were Correctional Counselor II Joseph Trujillo and Sgt. Al Williams, both pedaling along with hundreds of cyclists in Benicia.

Trujillo and Williams completed the 100K course with 14 other CDCR employees representing CSP-Solano and California Medical Facility (CMF).

Bike the Bridges is one of many events hosted in Northern California. The events are part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) campaign supporting Special Olympics Northern California.

The campaign provides free year-round sports, inclusive education, health and leadership programs to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

The CMF and SOL teams raised over $2,200. Solano ranked No. 8 and CMF ranked No. 14 out of 70 teams in overall donations.

“The Bike the Bridges ride was an amazing experience that was both fun and challenging,” said Trujillo. “I can’t wait to participate next year.”

Overall, the event raised over $187,000 for the Special Olympics.
