Languerand began his career as a correctional officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in September 2006.

After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he was assigned to the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, formerly known as San Quentin State Prison, in December 2006. He remained at San Quentin until promoting to parole agent in June 2010.

“Carl was a very proactive agent who loved his job. He cared deeply about public safety and his
partners in the field. Carl was compassionate and constantly checked on his co-workers. He trained several parole agents, including some who promoted to management positions. Our sincere condolences are extended to the Languerand family during this time of mourning,” according to a statement issued by the Division of Adult Parole Operations.
