The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) at Soledad hosted a health and wellness event for staff Feb. 21.

The Employee Action Committee and CTF leadership put on the Employee Health and Wellness Day.

Staff took part in activities, informational booths, and opportunities for engagement. Overall, the day offered something for everyone, emphasizing the need for health and well-being.

Food included Luigi’s Italian Food Truck while Max Fit offered healthy options. Additionally, staff were educated on nutritious meal prep ideas from Max Fit experts.

Informational booths included:

  • The California Chaplains Corps were present for any personal concerns staff wanted to discuss.
  • State Parks representatives shared recreational opportunities available in the region, encouraging staff to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
  • Soledad Parks and Recreation provided information on local recreational activities.

Stress relief and fun for staff included:

  • CrossFit and two gym representatives discussed fitness services and the role of physical activity in stress management.
  • A video game trailer also offered a sneak peek at the latest in entertainment, perfect for planning the staff’s next party or gathering. The trailer also offered an alternative to stress-relief outside of work.

One of the day’s most valuable aspects was the chance for staff to connect with colleagues in a relaxed setting.

“The Employee Health and Wellness Day event was more than just a day off from the routine,” said acting Warden Edward J. Borla. “It was a vibrant demonstration of our commitment to the health and wellness of our staff.”
