Gilbert Vargas

Kern Valley State Prison recently reported the passing of Materials & Stores Supervisor I Gilbert Vargas.

He and his wife passed away after a tragic accident.

He had been working at Kern Valley State Prison since 2005.

Lisa Rampenthal

California Men’s Colony recently reported the passing of retired Correctional Counselor I Lisa Rampenthal.

She started her CDCR career in September 2000 as a Correctional Officer at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad.

In June 2004, she transferred to the Salinas Valley State Prison’s Psych Inpatient Program as a Medical Technician Assistant.

She returned to the Correctional Training Facility as a Correctional Officer in August 2005. She promoted to Sergeant in November 2005.

She transferred to California Men’s Colony in December 2007. In August  2010, she promoted to Correctional Counselor I.

She retired in December 2015.

Raymond Martin Jr.

Correctional Training Facility reported the passing of retired Correctional Food Manager Raymond Martin Jr. on Aug. 5, 2019.

He started his CDCR career in October 1982 as a Correctional Supervising Cook. He promoted in February 1987 to Supervising Correctional Cook II.

He promoted to Correctional Food Manager in July 1989. He retired in January 1998.

Joseph Freeman Jr.

California State Prison, Solano, reported the passing of retired Correctional Officer Joseph Freeman Jr. on Aug. 12, 2019.

He started his CDCR career at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in May 1990.

He reported to California Medical Facility in July 1990.

He transferred to California State Prison, Solano. in July 1992. He remained there until he retired in July 2014.
