In August, staff at Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) collected boxes full of unused school supplies to donate to the local schools in Amador County.

Backpacks stuffed with paper, crayons, folders, and a variety of other desperately needed school supplies were evenly divided between elementary schools in Ione, Jackson, Pine Grove, Pioneer, Plymouth and Sutter Creek.

Prison employees hold a variety of fundraisers to support the local community.

Past events have included the Annual Toy Drive, the MCSP Memorial Golf Tournament and the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The Pack the Backpack event gave an opportunity for the staff to help the schools and the faculty to ensure a successful school year for the students. The collected supplies were hand-delivered to all of the schools and were met with much appreciation from the faculty.
