Kimberly Retiz

North Kern State Prison reported the passing of Correctional Officer Kimberly Retiz on Sept. 26, 2019.

She began her CDCR career in March 2016 at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center.

After graduation, she reported to North Kern State Prison.

Eddie Lopez

California Correctional Institution reported the passing Correctional Officer Eddie Lopez on Sept. 30, 2019.

He began his CDCR career at the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in September 1989.  Upon graduating in November 1989, he was assigned to the California Correctional Institution as a Correctional Officer.

He remained at the institution until his death.

Francisco ‘Bob’ Orozco

Avenal State Prison reported the passing of retired Correctional Officer Francisco ‘Bob’ Orozco on October 3, 2019.

He started his CDCR career in July 1994 at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. He reported to Avenal State Prison in August 1994.

He remained at the institution until he retired in September 2014.

Robert McFadden

Centinela State Prison reported on Oct. 12, 2019, the passing of Heavy Equipment Operator Robert McFadden.

He began his CDCR career in May 2006.

Ronald J. Fernandez

Corcoran State Prison reported in October the passing of retired Correctional Officer Ronald J. Fernandez.

He began his CDCR career in March 1988 at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center.

He reported to Corcoran after graduation where he worked as a Correctional Officer until his retirement on December 2012.

Steven Ware

California Medical Facility on Oct. 14, 2019, reported the passing of Correctional Officer Steven Ware.

He began his state career with the Department of Mental Health in April 2002 as a Medical Technical Assistant.

He transitioned to CDCR as a Correctional Officer in May 2007.

Chloe Miller

Deuel Vocational Institution reported the passing of Institutional Personnel Officer Chloe Miller on Oct. 13, 2019.

She started her CDCR career in April 2000 as an Office Assistant at the Central California Women’s Facility.

In March 2001, she promoted to Executive Secretary I for the Department of Transportation. She transferred to the California Northern Reentry Facility in September 2001.

In February 2003, she promoted to Staff Services Analyst at Central California Women’s Facility. In May 2008, she promoted to Associate Governmental Program Analyst at the same institution.

In March 2009, she transferred in the same classification to Pleasant Valley State Prison.

In August 2010, she promoted to Staff Services Manager I at Deuel Vocational Institution.
