
Correctional Officer Rory Taylor, 48, passed away Jan. 19, 2020.
Taylor, a California native, started his CDCR career at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in July 2007.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco.
In August 2013, he transferred to Central California Women’s Facility. Taylor remained at the facility until his sudden passing.
Taylor was named Officer of the Year in 2017 by the Madera Elks Lodge for his unselfish giving of time and energy to further the goals of the department while benefiting the community.
In 2018, he was awarded the CDCR Bronze Star after saving another person’s life.
He is survived by his wife, six children, eight grandchildren, his mother and brother.
