Richard Babb, retired, passes away

Richard Babb

Richard Babb, retired Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs, passed away March 30, 2020, according to Ironwood State Prison.

He served in the US Navy from 1970 until 1986, when he started his correctional career.

At California Correctional Institution in June 1986, he was hired as a vocational instructor.

In June 1993, he transferred to California State Prison, Los Angeles County, in Lancaster as a vocational instructor. In August 1994, he promoted to Supervisor of vocational instruction at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.

He promoted to Community Resource Manager in February 1999 at Ironwood State Prison. In June 2009, he promoted to Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs, where he worked until his retirement in December 2009.

Babb is survived by his wife and six children as well as six grandchildren.
