As CDCR celebrates education staff during National Teachers Week, Office of Correctional Education Superintendent Shannon Swain and her team gathered remotely to share their thanks for the people who make learning happen within state prisons.
Teachers go above and beyond every day in institutional classrooms, and especially during this pandemic they are going above and beyond to provide in-cell assignments and continue to support their students.
“Not only is education transformative, but it also improves and increases public safety,” Swain said. “We’re very grateful for our teachers and library staff, everybody working together to make our institutions and communities safer.”
