Community Involvement, Our Promise

In 2019, CDCR and CCHCS staff gave more than $573,000 to nonprofits through Our Promise: California State Employees Giving Back at Work.

One of them was Amy Miller, the Director of CDCR’s Division of Correctional Policy Research and Internal Oversight.

“I give during the Our Promise campaign because I am going to give to my favorite charities anyway,” she shares. “By doing it this way, I don’t have to write a check or figure out how to give to them. Instead, it comes right out of my paycheck and then, when I hear about the great things those organizations are doing in our communities, I am thrilled that my contribution helped to make that happen.”

Our Promise is a voluntary program in which state workers can make one-time or ongoing contributions via payroll deductions. This year’s campaign is 100 percent online, and the Donor Portal can be accessed via Cal Employee Connect.

There are many ways to support organizations that are important to you, beyond financial contributions.
