Correctional Officer Hector Villarreal, a 26-year veteran of CDCR, passed away August 5, 2021.

After serving four years the U.S. Marine Corps, he began his CDCR career in April 1995 at the Academy at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center.

After graduation, Officer Villarreal reported to Pleasant Valley State Prison, working there until 1998.

Then, he transferred to California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison at Corcoran, where he remained until his passing.

“Hector will always be known as an officer who staff could approach at any time for assistance or guidance while inspiring them to give their all,” acting Warden T. Cisneros wrote in a staff memo.

Services were held in August and he was laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Porterville.
