Charles Eisenhauer, retired counselor, passes

Retired Correctional Counselor Charles “Chuck” Eisenhauer, who began as a correctional officer, passed away June 18, 2021.

Eisenhauer began his career as a correctional officer in 1993. His first assignment was Avenal State Prison. He transferred to Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) in November 1997.

Eisenhauer became a Correctional Counselor in 2002. He retired in June 2005.

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a rare disease that attacks the bile ducts, was damaging his liver. After a three-year battle with PCS, he received a liver transplant in 2006.

He is survived by his sister, his wife and a step-daughter.

A celebration of life was held in September in Visalia.
