In October, California Institution for Women (CIW) participated in City of Hope’s 25th annual Walk for Hope charity event. The event raises money for breast and gynecological cancer research, treatment, and education.
CIW set a goal to raise $5,000 for the walk. Both staff and incarcerated participants donated to the cause, surpassing the goal. Together they raised $5,783, all donated to City of Hope.
On October 29, CIW staff and the incarcerated population completed the 5K walk on the recreation field, all for charity.
According to staff, CIW will participate in future breast cancer awareness events.
“Remember, 100% of every dollar you give, and raise, will support City of Hope’s Women’s Cancers Program,” according to organizers.
