With the holiday season upon us, two Folsom prisons collected and donated turkeys for families in need.

California State Prison-Sacramento and Folsom State Prison held a turkey drive to benefit the Twin Lakes Food Bank. The friendly competition between the Folsom prisons resulted in donations of 140 turkeys, $1,600, and numerous side dishes.

“We are proud of the women and men who make our prisons great and are proud of our commitment to our local community and the people we serve. Special thanks to the Twin Lakes Food Bank for allowing our staff to play a small role in serving our community,” said prison organizers.

Twin Lakes Food Bank serves 2,000 people every month with 85,000 pounds of food. The families in need reside in Folsom, El Dorado Hills, and Granite Bay areas.
