North Kern food sales generate $6,500 schools donation

The athletics departments at three area high schools received a hefty donation thanks to food sales with North Kern State Prison’s incarcerated population. Staff presented a check December 17 for $6,570 to Delano Joint Unified High School District.

The donation will help three schools:

  • Delano High School
  • Robert F. Kennedy High School (RFK)
  • Cesar Chavez High School (CCHS)

“Athletics can teach an individual sportsmanship, teamwork, and how to overcome adversity. These are lessons that can last a lifetime and prepare young student athletes for their professional careers,” said Warden Kelly Santoro.
