CALPIA held its Annual Employee Award Recognition Ceremony at the Prison Industry Board meeting on December 16.
Six employees were recognized for superior job performance and dedicated commitment to CALPIA’s core values. Nominations for the awards are submitted by peers, supervisors, and full-time employees of CALPIA. Nominations also included CDCR’s Warden of the Year.

Warden of the Year – Craig Koenig, Former Warden, Correctional Training Facility
Employee of the Year, Central Office – Dennette Kreisel, Product Manager, Marketing
Employee of the Year, Field – Jesus Rangel, Custodian II, Chuckawalla Valley State Prison
Supervisor of the Year, Central Office – Stephanie Guter, Staff Services Manager I, Human Resources
Supervisor of the Year, Field – Ramiro Gomez, Administrator, Salinas Valley state Prison/ Correctional Training Facility
Instructor of the Year – Sharena Robertson, Career Technical Education Instructor, Pelican Bay State Prison
CALPIA is a self-supporting state entity defined not only by its mission and operations but also by the commitment of its staff and partners to change the lives of incarcerated individuals. The work that the awardees of this year’s Employee Awards exemplify CALPIA and CDCR’s dedication to its role in helping the state to reduce recidivism, and each stand as leading examples to their peers of professionalism, dedication, and service to others.
