Rogelio Baez, Sr, CTF retiree, passes away

Rogelio “Roger” Baez, Sr., retired Warehouse Manager II, passed away Feb. 18, 2022.

Baez began his career as a correctional officer in 1980 at the Correctional Training Facility. Two years later, he went to the non-custody side, becoming a Materials & Stores Supervisor.

He promoted to Canteen Manager II in October 1984 and to Warehouse Manager II in February 1988. He remained in the position until retiring in May 2009.

According to his family, he enjoyed spending time with them, working the grill, fishing, camping and taking trips to Reno. He also enjoyed dancing and listening Tejano music.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1963-65.

“We extend our most sincere condolences to Mr. Baez’s family, loved ones and friends. He will be missed by all,” according to a statement issued by the institution.

A celebration of life was held March 5, 2022, at American Legion Post 81 in Gonzales.
