Darrell Snell, retired lieutenant, passes away

Darrell Snell, a retired correctional lieutenant, passed away June 27, 2022.

He began his career at the academy in April 1988. On May 30, he reported to California State Prison, Corcoran, as an officer.

Transferring to Pleasant Valley State Prison, he promoted to sergeant in June 1995. Three years later, he promoted the lieutenant at the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison at Corcoran. In November 2016, he retired.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Snell family during this time of mourning,” according to a statement issued by the institution.

Viewing will be 9 am to 10 am July 8 at Koinonia Church, 12536 Hanford-Armona Road, Hanford, Services will follow at 10 am. Burial will be held following services at the Sunflower Fields Cemetery, 9660 18th Avenue, Lemoore. Reception will be held following graveside service at the Koinonia Church.
