Governor recognizes Parole Supervision Week

Gold badge with the words "State Parole Agent California"

Governor Gavin Newsom has recognized July 17-23 as Parole Supervision Week.

The recognition states:

Parole professionals serve an integral role in improving public safety and promoting the successful reintegration of the individuals in their care back into their communities – equipped with the tools to be drug-free, healthy and employable members of society.

These dedicated men and women serve as positive role models whose work supports public safety as well as individual wellness. Through education, treatment and active participation in rehabilitative and restorative justice programs, parole supervision offers the support and opportunity for justice-involved individuals to change their lives.

Partnering with a diverse group of stakeholders, parole professionals provide innovative services and develop meaningful programs and processes to promote shared responsibility for community safety. They work closely with victims of crime and their families to ensure their rights are met, and to connect them to the supports they need.

I encourage all Californians to join me in recognizing parole professionals’ immense contributions as a force for positive change in the lives of those they supervise and in communities across California.
