Volker Ghulke, retired sergeant, passes away

The California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) reported the passing of Volker Ghulke, retired correctional sergeant. He passed away July 22, 2022.

Ghulke began his CDCR career in October 2002 as a Clinical Social Worker at Corcoran State Prison. Four years later, he left social work and in January 2007, he reported to the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. Upon graduating the academy, he reported to Corcoran State Prison on April 21, 2007.

He returned to SATF and promoted to sergeant in July 2013. He remained at SATF until retiring in December 2020.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ghulke family during this time of mourning,” according to a statement issued by SATF.
