Alfredo Lopez, correctional officer, passes away

Correctional Officer Alfredo Lopez passed away on July 31, 2022. He began his career with CDCR at the RA McGee Correctional Training Center in April 2000.

After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in June.

In January 2002, he transferred to Centinela State Prison, where he worked until his passing.

“Centinela extends our sincere condolences to Alfredo’s family,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “Alfredo was always in a good mood, and full of smiles and laughter no matter what he was doing. Anyone who was lucky enough to work with him knows he was a great partner to have, and made work a more pleasant place to be. All who knew him will miss him.”

Viewing will be held 6 to 9 pm, August 30, at Hems Brothers Mortuary, 1975 S. 4th Street, El Centro.

Mass will be held at 9 am, August 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 795 S. La Brucherie Road, El Centro. Burial immediately follow mass at Terrace Park Cemetery in Holtville.
