Frank Gomes, a retired staff member from the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), passed away October 12, 2022. He was a longtime employee, working 37 years for DJJ.
He began his extensive career as a teacher with the California Youth Authority at O.H. Close Youth Correctional Facility in 1975. During his career he was employed in various capacities including Lieutenant, Senior Youth Correctional Counselor, Training Officer and Staff Services Manager I.
Gomes worked at the Northern Reception Center and Clinic, Preston School of Industry and DJJ Headquarters until his retirement in 2012.
“Frank Gomes will be remembered for his mentorship and great sense of humor. Our sincere condolences go out to all who knew and cared for Frank. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers,” according to a statement issued by DJJ.
He is survived by two sons, two sisters, his brother, and five grandchildren.
Services will be held October 27 with visitation at 5 pm and service at 6 pm at East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary Chapel, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove.
