Randy Butcher, a retired correctional lieutenant, passed away Nov. 18, 2022. He began his CDCR career in March 2003 at Pelican Bay State Prison.
He promoted to sergeant five years later, then promoted to lieutenant in 2013. He retired from Pelican Bay in April 2019.
“Many of us knew Randy both personally and professionally. He was a good friend, a good person and a good human being. Randy will be missed. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
