Thanks to North Kern State Prison (NKSP) staff, a local school received $2,500 to help fund student activities.

Funds were raised by donations from staff and events benefiting the prison’s nonprofit Delano Employee Liaison Association.

On Jan. 23, prison staff presented the donation check to McFarland Junior High School officials.

“Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference. I see that the McFarland Unified School District is dedicated to empowering all their students to effectively use technology and instructional strategies to prepare the students for college and their future careers,” said NKSP acting Warden Kevin Hixon.
