For National Correctional Officers Week, Wasco State Prison‑Reception Center (WSP) held a ceremony to pay tribute to fallen custody correctional employees.
Family of the fallen and WSP staff attended to honor the legacy and memory of the WSP employees.
The ceremony commenced with the posting of the WSP and San Quentin Honor Guard. Members of the Honor Guard added seven plaques to the WSP Correctional Officer Memorial. Warden Heather Shirley, Captain (A) Isidro Leyva, and Honor Guard Sergeant George Munoz attended and spoke at the ceremony.
The fallen officer monument was unveiled to the crowd and each name was read aloud with the ringing of the bell. Flowers were laid at the base of the Officer Memorial and presented to family members who were in attendance.
