Jaime Lozada, a retired correctional counselor, passed away May 4, 2023. He worked for the department for 20 years.

He began his CDCR career in July 1986 as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) at Soledad in September 1986.

He promoted to correctional counselor in April 1996, where he remained until retiring in August 2006.

“Jaime was an invaluable member of CTF and will always be in our hearts. He was very well respected amongst his peers, subordinates, supervisors and managers. Jaime will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him. Our sincerest condolences are extended to Jaime’s family, friends, and loved ones,” according to a statement issued by the institution.

“He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Lina, and five children: Basil, Grace, Ronald, Jennifer and Lovajil,” according to his family. He is also survived by four siblings.

A viewing will be held at 1 p.m., May 18, at Healey Mortuary in Salinas. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m., May 19, at Sacred Heart Church in Salinas. Burial services will be held immediately following mass at Queen Heaven Cemetery in Prunedale.
