Bobby Ormachea, retired teacher, passes away

Bobby Joe Ormachea, a retired teacher, passed away July 5, 2023, at his home in Susanville. He worked for CDCR from 1997 until retiring in September 2022. Ormachea was 55 years old.

A Susanville native, he taught in public schools before joining the teaching staff at High Desert State Prison in 1997. He transferred to California Correctional Center in 2010, where he remained until retiring in 2022.

He is survived by two children, his parents, a brother and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

According to his family, he enjoyed camping and being outdoors.

One of his childhood friends said, “Bobby was sunshine for the soul and always made you feel seen.”

A celebration of life was held July 15, 2023, in Susanville.
