SATF sees Between the Lines music, hoops event

Between the Lines hosted two days of music and basketball for the incarcerated population at Substance Abuse Treatment Facility (SATF).

Between the Lines previously had events at California State Prison, Corcoran. The program brought their talents to four different facilities and four different courts at SATF. Although there were some close games, the Between the Lines team left SATF with a 4-0 record. DJ Printz added a flair of hip-hop and R&B that brought people out of their seats.

On each facility, there were lines of people wanting to thank SATF Warden (A) Phillips for allowing them to have this event. Warden (A) Phillips redirected their admiration to all the staff, incarcerated population, and SATF coaches Luis “Louie” Valencia and Christopher “CJ” Costello. He thanked them for their hard work on getting everything together.

Between the Lines brings basketball to the courts of rehabilitation centers throughout the country. Organizers believe basketball, even more so than any other sport, can be used to teach life lessons.
