Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) San Gabriel Valley Parole District staff volunteered at the Foothill Unity Center back to school event.

This is an annual supply giveaway put on by the Foothill Unity Center.

The event was held at the historic Santa Anita racetrack in the city of Arcadia.

The event provided:

  • backpacks
  • clothes
  • school uniforms
  • shoes
  • and school supplies.

Over 1000 students, ranging from kindergarten to college ages, benefited from the back to school event.

Several local cosmetology schools were onsite to provide free haircuts and manicures to the attendees.

Attendees also received the opportunity for free dental screenings.

Several formerly incarcerated individuals with children from the SGV area were referred to participate in the event. DAPO staff gave away stickers, pencil pouches and coloring books.

“It was a great opportunity for DAPO to help out in the community we serve,” said Jason Johnson, Chief Deputy Regional Administrator.
