CTF domestic abuse program sees 37 graduate

Incarcerated graduates of a domestic abuse program at Correctional Training Facility hold certificates, joined by program facilitators and volunteers.
The Awareness Into Domestic Abuse (AIDA) program at CTF saw 37 graduate on Oct. 12.

The Awareness Into Domestic Abuse (AIDA) program at the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) hosted an graduation event for 37 participants on Oct. 12.

To graduate, participants finished a 12-week course to earn their certificates of completion. The domestic abuse program was created by individuals who were incarcerated due to domestic abuse histories and related criminal convictions.

In 2019, AIDA became a registered non-profit expanding its mission to address, prevent and end domestic abuse. The group is also expanding to other CDCR institutions to offer support to others who have domestic abuse histories and related criminal convictions.

AIDA seeks to help transform distorted thinking patterns while introducing healthy relationship tools and coping mechanisms for incarcerated individuals.

The program is committed to ensuring people have the opportunity and are equipped to engage in non-abusive healthy relationships. This is especially important so they no longer pose a threat to public safety and are able to join AIDA’s mission to end domestic abuse in our communities.
