San Gabriel Valley Parole District and America’s Job Center of California collaborated to host a Job and Resource Fair.
The parole district hosted the fair in their parking lot in Pomona. Over 100 formerly incarcerated individuals from the San Gabriel Valley area attended the event.
San Gabriel Valley community comes together
Acting Regional Parole Administrator Derrick Carraway and Pomona City Council member Steve Lustro attended the event. The council member took time to meet with participants.
Attendees were able to meet with over 30 employers and community resource providers. Employers included Amazon, Athens, and Goodwill. Other resources were offered as well such as the County Department of Mental Health, Child Support Services, and the Public Defender’s office.
Recruiters from Cal Poly Pomona and Mt. San Antonio College registered prospective college students while vocational schools met with future carpenters, machinists, and electricians.
The East Valley Health Mobile unit offered HIV testing and gave out ten-dollar gifts cards to participants. Attendees received free haircuts, courtesy of Hacienda Heights Adult School.
Ron’s Rockin’ Tacos provided a free taco lunch while Dhasa Care Foundation supplied music to keep the energy high.
