Folsom State Prison (FSP) hosted its first Program Fair at the institution. The event aimed to provide incarcerated individuals with valuable in-person information about the opportunities available within the prison community.
At the fair, 32 vendors set up informative booths, creating a space for incarcerated individuals to explore their options. The population connected with volunteers, instructors, mental health staff, and various representatives. Over 350 individuals attended, eager to engage and learn about the diverse opportunities offered at FSP.
The event highlighted FSP’s commitment to rehabilitation, education, and reintegration. FSP showcased a range of programs designed to support incarcerated as they finish their sentence. This helped prepare the population for a successful transition upon release.
FSP plans for regular Program Fairs in the future after the positive reception from the incarcerated population and vendors. FSP remains committed to these principles, striving for a brighter future for all involved.
“The Program Fair was a step towards our goal of rehabilitation and reintegration. By providing individuals with in-person knowledge about the opportunities available, we empower them to make informed choices that can lead to positive change.
