Dennis Futscher, a retired correctional officer, he passed away Jan. 13, 2024. He began his career with the department in September 1994. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, Futscher reported to Centinela State Prison in October 1994.
The following year, he transferred to Avenal State Prison where he worked until retiring in December 2009.
“Dennis was a hard worker and always full of smiles and laughter, no matter what. Anyone who knew him or got to work with him, knows he always made you feel welcome and treated you as a friend, even if you just met him. Avenal State Prison extends our sincere condolences to Dennis’ family and friends,” according to a statement issued by the prison.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Armona United Methodist Church at 14013 Hanford Armona Road in Armona. Immediately following services, the burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, 11680 10th Ave., Hanford.
