CMC raises $90k for community

California Men's Colony (CMC) donation to local community.

The population at California Men’s Colony (CMC) held a food sale, raising $90k for community organizations and children.

Beneficiaries the CMC population chose included the Children’s Resource Network and the Los Padres division of the Boy Scouts of America, along with other community organizations and businesses.

The food sale was a huge success as CMC donated $12,000 to the Children’s Resource Network.

The organization, headed by Lisa Ray, provides essential items for youth in California. Items the children receive include:

  • clothing, shoes, blankets, backpacks, school supplies, books, diapers, and toiletries
  • as well as holiday gifts and other items to help meet their educational and basic needs.

“It is an absolute honor and privilege for the Children’s Resource Network of California to partner with the Warden, administrative staff, correctional officers, and prisoners of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s California Men’s Colony. (This donation helps us) provide clothing and other important direct resource support to children in need through our many stationery and mobile clothing closet programs. I look forward to personally thanking the prisoners and staff for their generosity and kindness. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude.”

The food sale also generated $8,000 for the Boy Scouts of America, Los Padres division, in addition to generating $66,280 for local small businesses and restaurants.
