California Model: Flag football at SATF

California Model flag football team with some staff at SATF.
Normalization was on display during a flag football game between Facility F and G at SATF.

The California Model team was on hand at the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility (SATF) for the Battle of Complex IV flag football game. Teams from Facilities F and G faced off on the field for a friendly game. The Facility G band even provided entertainment for those attending.

The California Model Team also got their photo taken with some of SATF’s executives including Warden Bryan Phillips and Chief Deputy Warden Raul Morales.

The four pillars of the California Model are prominently displayed in a newly painted mural welcoming people as they arrive on Facility F.

The Facility F Executive Body Inmate Advisory Council (IAC) also added some artwork to the Education Department wall. A motto reminds people education is fundamental in recovery and is the “Path to Freedom.”

Staff and the incarcerated population at SATF continue to work together to make the California Model a success.
