The ceremony was live streamed for all staff to view, giving them a chance to congratulate Lt. Madsen on his achievement.

“This was a special day. Normalization is just as important for our hardworking staff as it is for our incarcerated population,” said Warden Schuyler.

“Many law enforcement agencies around the country do some sort of ceremony for promotions. This day is the start of a new tradition. Having family and staff join together in celebration goes a long way towards achieving a better and healthier work environment,” he explained.

Salinas Valley State Prison is looking forward to its next promotion ceremony.
