Cheryl Mason, a retired correctional officer, passed away Aug. 11, 2024.
She began her correctional career as a cadet in 1994 with her first assignment at California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi.
She retired in June 2014 after 20 years with the department, all of it spent at same institution.
“We extend our very deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Cheryl’s family, her son William Heriford, a CCI maintenance mechanic, co-workers, and her many friends. She will always be remembered and truly missed in our community,” according to a statement issued by CCI.
Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, at 11:30 a.m., at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Highway, in Shafter.
