CDCR recruiters, in collaboration with San Joaquin Delta College, successfully hosted a series of career fairs during the fall semester.
These career fairs, spanning August through October, connected aspiring public safety professionals with various agencies, including CDCR.
The career fairs created opportunities for students to engage with representatives from 25 public safety agencies such as:
- San Mateo Police Department
- Stockton Police Department
- US military
- and San Joaquin County Probation.
CDCR’s presence at these events highlights the diverse opportunities within the department.
Recruiters included CDCR:
- Peace Officer Recruitment Unit (PORU)
- Division of Adult Parole Operations
- California Correctional Health Care Services
- Specialized Recruitment Unit
- and Victims Services.
David Terry, college professor, is CDCR career advocate

Professor David Terry, Chair of the Delta College Corrections Department and a staunch CDCR supporter played a pivotal role in organizing these events.
“It’s fantastic to see CDCR actively engage with our students and showcase the diverse range of opportunities available within the department,” said Professor Terry. “These career fairs provide our students with invaluable insights into the exciting and rewarding careers they can pursue in public safety.”
At the PORU booth, peace officer recruiters from Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown and the Correctional Training Center in Galt offered insights.
They discussed career paths, pay, benefits, minimum qualifications, and promotional opportunities within CDCR.
The recruiters engaged with students, answering questions and sharing their experiences.
Interested Correctional Officer applicants can apply online at JoinCDCR.com.
By participating in these career fairs, CDCR reinforced its commitment to fostering the next generation of public safety professionals.
The department looks forward to continuing its partnership with San Joaquin Delta College and other institutions to inspire and recruit talented individuals to serve the state of California.
