Victor Marquez, a retired correctional officer from Wasco State Prison-Reception Center, passed away Dec. 28, 2024.

Marquez began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in June 1991.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in July 1991, he reported to Wasco State Prison-Reception Center.
He remained at the institution until retiring in July 2021.
“Victor will be greatly missed by all those who knew and worked with him throughout his career,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Feb. 21, at the San Clemente Mission Parish, 1305 Water St., Bakersfield. Burial services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield.
