David Prasinos, a retired correctional officer, passed away Dec. 31, 2024. He worked for the department for 32 years.

Prasinos began his correctional career as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in October 1985.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to San Quentin in November 1985. In June 1987, he transferred to Mule Creek State Prison.
Five years later, he transferred to Folsom State Prison. Then, in January 1994, he transferred to California State Prison (CSP), Sacramento.
After a successful career, Officer Prasinos retired from CSP-Sacramento in December 2017.
“Officer Prasinos was not only a pillar of strength for this institution but also a cherished partner and friend to many of those who worked around him. Officer Prasinos built lasting relationships with many staff at CSP-Sacramento,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed his weekend rides. Officer Prasinos loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed as his legacy will forever remain in our hearts. Our sincere condolences are extended to the Prasinos family, as well as our CSP-Sacramento family during this difficult time.”
There will be no public services.
