CDCR Secretary Jeffrey Macomber discusses the importance of ensuring patient safety during Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 10-14.
“As we embark on Patient Safety Week for 2025, I want to thank all staff for the work they’re doing within our facilities day-in and day-out,” said Macomber. “Patient safety is not just a health care issue, it’s an issue for all staff.”
“As a custody staff, you may wonder, ‘What do I have to do with patient safety?’ Well, you have a big role and you’re doing it now whether you know it or not. This could be from sounding an alarm during a medical emergency to dealing with a patient who might (have overdosed) and you have to apply Narcan,” he said. “It’s also ensuring your work environment is clean and hygienic, to avoid communicable diseases coming within our facilities. So, thank you for all the work you do. Much appreciated.”
Right diagnosis, right care, right time
During Patient Safety Awareness Week, CDCR and CCHCS celebrate a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous learning. Our health care professionals work diligently to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes. The theme of Patient Safety Week 2025 is “Right Diagnosis. Right Care. Right Time.”
