Inside CDCR Video, Prison Health Care

Patient Safety Week with Dr. Joseph Bick

All year, and especially during Patient Safety Awareness Week, CDCR and CCHCS affirm a commitment to improve diagnosis for patient safety. Accurate and timely diagnosis is the foundation of effective treatment.

During Patient Safety Awareness Week, CCHCS Director of Health Care Services, Dr. Joseph Bick, also shared how effective communication with our patients and staff can reduce critical errors and build trust and teamwork within correctional settings.

“This approach not only improved outcomes but does so in a manner that enhances the safety of our patients and our colleagues,” he said. “Let’s all commit to honing our communication skills, for it is through effective communication that we will elevate the quality of care we provide and do so in a manner that optimizes the health and safety of all those who work and live in correctional settings.”

Right diagnosis, right care, right time

This week, CDCR and CCHCS celebrate a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous learning. Our health care professionals work diligently to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes. The theme of Patient Safety Awareness Week 2025 is “Right Diagnosis. Right Care. Right Time.”
