Joseph Robichaud, a retired correctional sergeant who worked for CDCR for over two decades, passed away March 9, 2025.

Robichaud began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in January 1996.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to California State Prison, Sacramento. He then promoted to sergeant in February 2007. After a successful career, he retired in December 2017.
“Sgt. Robichaud was not only a pillar of strength for this institution but also a cherished partner and friend to many of those who worked around him. He was kind-hearted and truly cared about the wellness of all staff. He was well respected by his peers, subordinates, supervisors, and managers. Sgt. Robichaud loved his family and friends,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “He will be greatly missed as his legacy will forever remain in our hearts. Our sincere condolences are extended to the Robichaud family, as well as our CSP-Sacramento family during this difficult time.”
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at the Church of God of Carmichael, 5334 Whitney Ave., Carmichael.
