Ty Roberts, a retired correctional sergeant, passed away March 13, 2025.
He began his career with the department as a cadet as the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in 1994.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in August, he reported to the California Correctional Institution (CCI) at Tehachapi.
He promoted to correctional sergeant at CCI in February 2015. Roberts retired in April 2017, spending his entire career at CCI.
“CCI extends our very deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Ty’s family, co-workers, and friends,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “Ty will be missed by many.”
Services have not yet been announced.
