Two officers injured in attack at San Quentin

Safety and Security Update for San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, officers injured, officer, attack, incident.

Two correctional officers at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center were injured in an attack by an incarcerated person Thursday, April 24.

An incarcerated person began punching two officers who were observing movement for the evening meal. Staff immediately quelled the incident. No weapon was used in the attack.

The two officers were transported to an outside medical facility for a higher level of treatment. They were released later and are OK.

The incarcerated person was re-housed in the restricted housing unit.

Such acts of violence toward staff will not be tolerated. We are committed to holding those responsible accountable.

Peer Support and Employee Assistance Program services are being offered to employees. The California Correctional Peace Officers Association was notified.
