CIM remembers fallen peace officers

California Institution for Men (CIM) staff, including acting Warden Eric Mejia, attended the May 22 San Bernardino County Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony. The solemn ceremony paid tribute to law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Montclair Police Department hosted this year’s annual memorial ceremony honoring fallen officers from across the region. The ceremony unites agencies in a moment of remembrance and gratitude. This year’s event drew law enforcement personnel, community leaders, and families from across Southern California.

Acting Warden E. Mejia represented CIM with distinction, joining fellow officers and observing a moment of silence as the names of the fallen were read aloud. The ceremony included a 21-gun salute, Honor Guard demonstration, riderless horse presentation, a fly-over by the San Bernardino County Sherriff’s aviation unit and the playing of Taps. Each toll symbolized a life of service and sacrifice.

“The bravery of those we honor today reminds us why we wear the badge,” Mejia said. “Their legacy lives on in the commitment we bring to our work every day.”

CIM remains dedicated to honoring the memory of peace officers lost in service. CIM staff stands in solidarity with the broader law enforcement community in preserving peace, dignity, and public safety.
